ColdShip liners are built on a cotton blend specifically engineered for last-mile cold chain performance. Cotton is the foundation — a natural fiber with inherently strong insulating and cushioning properties. But the real story is what gets added to it, and why.
Polyester: durability that holds up through the supply chain
Polyester is woven into the blend to reinforce the liner's structural integrity. It resists wear, handles repeated contact with gel packs and refrigerants without degrading, and maintains its form from pack-out through final delivery. In high-volume fulfillment environments, that durability matters. A liner that breaks down mid-transit is a liability. Polyester makes sure that doesn't happen.
Elastane: fit that eliminates void fill
Elastane gives the liner flexibility. It conforms to box dimensions rather than fighting them, which means tighter contact with the product and less dead air space inside the shipper. Less void space means better thermal retention and less need for additional void fill material — which reduces both cost per shipment and packaging waste.
Nylon: toughness where it counts
Nylon adds abrasion resistance. Cold chain shipments get handled — sorted, stacked, transferred, dropped. Nylon in the blend means the liner surface holds up through that process without tearing or thinning. It is the reason ColdShip liners arrive at the customer's door in the same condition they left the fulfillment center.
Wool: thermal regulation for temperature-sensitive shipments
Wool is a natural insulator. It traps air within its fiber structure, slowing heat transfer in both directions — keeping cold in and ambient heat out. It also manages moisture, which matters in pharmaceutical applications where condensation inside a shipper can compromise packaging integrity. Wool in the blend is what makes ColdShip liners viable for cold chain applications where performance specifications are not optional.
